The Exchange TRX

The Exchange TRX is the newest of Kuala Lumpur's luxury retail precincts, and LDP was engaged across both its interiors and its façades. The work of the central atrium was a work of concert rather than of luminaires: daylight does the leading, decorative features carry their own light, and supplementary lighting fills only where the other two leave off — three sources reading as one continuous, even light, none of them announcing itself. At the entries, the task turned from ambience to identity. Each features a special installation or artwork, and these were lit not to flood but to single out — so that the thing a visitor remembers about arriving is the piece itself, given its own presence in the dark.
