Good lighting usually knows when to disappear. Vegas Mall in New Delhi is the brief that asks for the opposite — and the discipline lies in recognising it. A retail experience riffing on the extravagance of its namesake, it wanted light not as a quiet servant but as the main event: colour used liberally, freely, without apology, to hold the whole place in a mood of permanent festivity. So that is what it got. The lighting here is meant to be seen, meant to be felt the moment you arrive — a perennial sense of celebration that never quite settles into ordinary daylight, never lets the energy drop. The skill was not in holding back but in conducting the excess: keeping colour joyful rather than chaotic, festive rather than fatiguing, so the party reads as designed and never simply loud.
